Challenge Youth Fund is designed to help children and youth know their options and reach their full potential. Particular emphasis is on homeless, foster, and orphan children. A major focus will be on mentoring and education, both formal and informal. The intention is to help kids become all that they can be and, in turn, make a difference in the world.

Challenge Youth Fund is a donor-advised fund of the Arizona Community Foundation. Anne Lorimor is the fund founder and advisor. ACF is an organization with the intent to build a legacy of philanthropy by connecting donor interests with community needs. Grants are not limited to Arizona.

Anne Lorimor, either personally or in her capacity as advisor, has given support to Rosie’s House, a music academy for children; Boy’s Ranch in Texas; Youth at Risk, now called New Pathways for Youth; an African singing group, and many others. The Fund will offer an annual award for teens to attend CEO Space, an invitation-only business networking and educational organization.

Anne Lorimor has had a longtime interest in helping disadvantaged children. As a child, she helped care for baby orphans in a children’s home and school her parents established in rural New Mexico. After all these years, one of them came to visit her in Wisconsin recently. She has acted as a mentor for one girl from 6 until 21 years of age, and they are still in touch. She also inspected children’s homes and programs for the state of Arizona.

At 85, Anne will climb Mt. Kilimanjaro in July 2015 to set a Guinness World Record for the benefit of the fund. She will be going with Werner Berger, who is the oldest person to have climbed the highest peak in all the 7 continents and has climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro 4 times. This website will carry accounts of progress. People or organizations interested in sponsoring the climb can reach Anne at or 480-348-0998.

The Arizona Community Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization. Gifts to ACF or any of its component funds, such as Challenge Youth Fund, are tax deductible, subject to individual limitations. Alternatively if you wish to sponsor by contributing travel costs or hiking supplies or equipment, you can do so by contacting Anne Lorimor directly at or 480-348-0998. WATCH THIS SPACE, and climb Mt. Kilimanjaro vicariously for a great cause!
